Hello, my name is Tom Cangelosi, a Professional Bagpiper based in Falls Church, VA and I’ve been piping for 16 years. I am a competing piper in the Open Grade in North America and in the C Grades for contests in Scotland.
My instructional style aims to create pipers with good technique, timing and a strong understanding of how to get high quality sound from their instruments. In our program here, students with prior musical experience typically get onto pipes in around a year and can successfully audition into the performing band within another 6 months. Students who are new to music can expect to take longer, perhaps up to 2 years on the chanter.
Learning bagpipes is not for the faint of heart! The process is filled with difficulties but the end result is extremely rewarding.
